Sydney City Guide

Sydney, Australia is located in the state of New South Wales and is the state’s capital.

In 1788 Sydney was the site of the first European colony. The settlement began in Sydney Cove and was lead by Captain Arthur Phillip leader of the first fleet from Britain. Sydney is now a multicultural, highly urbanised and modern dynamic city in the south-east corner of Australia.

Sydney is home to many famous sights such as the Harbour Bridge and Opera house. The city is surrounded by bays, rivers, beaches, the Blue Mountains and national parks.

The city has an average public transport network, with buses and trains, as well as a small monorail and tram network in the centre of town, so it’s very easy to get around. There’s also the ferry network running in Sydney Harbour. However, the car is still king when it comes to transportation in Sydney especially when you venture away from the centralised districts.
