Sydney Travel Guide

Sydney is one of the most multicultural cities in the world which reflects its role as a major destination for immigrants to Australia. According to the Mercer cost of living survey, Sydney is Australia’s most expensive city, and the 21st most expensive in the world.

About Sydney

Sydney covers an area of 4689 sq. miles (12144 sq. Km) and is estimated to have a population of 4.5 million people being the state capital of New South Wales, and the site of the first European colony in Australia. It is also Australia's most populous city.

Sydney Aquarium

This is one of the world’s best aquariums and should be near the top of your itinerary. The main attractions are the underwater walkways through two enormous tanks — one full of giant rays and gray nurse sharks and the other where you can see the seals. Other exhibits include a magnificent section on the Great Barrier Reef, where thousands of colorful fish school around coral outcrops. Sit on the steps beside the huge, main Barrier Reef tank, listening to the classical music, and you might never want to leave. Also on display are two saltwater crocodiles and some fairy penguins. A new touch-pool allows you to stroke baby sharks. Try to visit during the week, when it’s less crowded.
